What Is the Museum of the Future?
Opened in February 2022, the Museum of the Future is one of the most distinctive buildings in Dubai and regularly listed among the most beautiful structures in the world. The torus-shaped building stands 77 meters tall on Sheikh Zayed Road, its stainless steel facade engraved with Arabic calligraphy from Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum visible from across the city and one of the most photographed buildings in the UAE.
Unlike a traditional museum housing historical artefacts, the Museum of the Future is built around the opposite concept immersive experiences that place visitors inside speculative visions of what the world could look like in 2071. Five exhibition floors, each a distinct environment, spanning themes of space, nature, wellness, technology, and children's futures. Part immersive theatre, part science exhibition, part design showcase.
What Was Inside The Five Floors
(The following describes the exhibitions as they existed before the September 2026 closure. The Q1 2027 reopening is expected to feature a fully overhauled exhibition programme.)
OSS Hope Space Station
The experience begins with visitors boarding a fictional space station orbiting Earth in 2071. The station exterior, the docking sequence, and the interior design of OSS Hope were built as full environments — not screens or displays. The most dramatically staged section of the museum and consistently the most talked-about by visitors.
Al Waha The Oasis
A mindfulness and wellness zone drawing on future concepts of nature and mental wellbeing. More contemplative than the other floors a deliberate contrast to the high-stimulus floors above and below it.
Heal The Biosphere
A lush, immersive recreation of a future natural ecosystem exploring how biodiversity and natural systems might be preserved, restored, or reimagined in the decades ahead.
The Machine World Technology Floor
Interactive exhibits exploring robotics, artificial intelligence, sustainable energy, and other technologies anticipated to define daily life by 2071. More hands-on than the theatrical upper floors.
Future Heroes Children's Floor
A dedicated children's floor with age-appropriate interactive experiences around science, sustainability, and future-thinking. Designed to give younger visitors ownership of the museum's ideas rather than a simplified version of the adult floors.
