Hot Air Balloon Dubai

Quad Bike Dubai

Ride a 250cc or 450cc quad bike across the Lahbab Desert dunes solo or guided. No experience needed for the beginner track. More experienced riders can take the 30 or 60-minute routes across steeper terrain. One of the most accessible and consistently popular desert activities for all ages.

Dune Buggy Tour Dubai

Camel Ride Dubai

Sandboarding Dubai

Where Do Desert Activities Take Place?

Most activities operate from one of two desert locations:

Lahbab Desert (Al Qudra / Big Red) The main desert activity zone. Red sand dunes, steeper terrain, the best location for hot air balloons, quad bikes, and dune buggies. Approximately 45 minutes from central Dubai off the Al Ain Road (E66).

Margham Desert Closer to Dubai, used for some camel rides and sandboarding experiences. About 35 minutes from the city centre.

Best Time for Desert Activities in Dubai

Hot air balloon: Sunrise departures only, year-round the cool morning air is needed for safe flight conditions. Best months are November to March.

Quad bike, dune buggy, sandboarding: Morning or late afternoon recommended year-round. Avoid midday from May to September.

Desert safari: Evening departures year-round. The desert cools rapidly after sunset and is comfortable even in summer.
