Al Ain is the UAE's garden city — the only UNESCO World Heritage city in the country, known for its date palm oases, ancient falaj irrigation systems, and Jebel Hafeet, the second-highest peak in the UAE. It is 130 kilometres from central Dubai and sits on the Abu Dhabi border with Oman. Less visited than Dubai or Abu Dhabi, but among the most culturally rich destinations in the UAE and one of the few cities in the country where you can spend a full day at heritage sites, parks, and a world-class zoo without encountering crowds.
Gold Sand Tours provides private fixed-price transfers from Dubai to Al Ain. Price is agreed before travel — all tolls and road charges included.

The Route — Dubai to Al Ain
Primary Route: E66 (Al Ain Road) The direct highway from Dubai to Al Ain — running south-east from Interchange 4 on Sheikh Zayed Road across the flat desert to Al Ain. Well-maintained dual carriageway throughout. The road passes through the low desert landscape characteristic of the Abu Dhabi emirate, with a noticeable increase in greenery and palm trees as you approach Al Ain.
For Jebel Hafeet: After Al Ain city, the road continues south to the mountain base. The summit road winds approximately 11 km up the mountain face from Green Mubazzarah — this section adds 30 to 40 minutes each way.
Traffic note: The E66 runs far more smoothly than the Dubai–Abu Dhabi highway. Outside UAE public holiday periods, the road is consistently clear. The main traffic consideration is within Al Ain city itself during peak hours — the city has roundabout-based traffic management which can slow progress across the city.

About Al Ain — Worth Knowing Before You Visit
Al Ain is the only UAE city with UNESCO World Heritage status — covering four cultural sites including Al Ain Oasis, Hafit Heritage Site (at the base of Jebel Hafeet), Hili Archaeological Park, and Al Ain Old Town. The city is also the birthplace of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the UAE.
Unlike Dubai and Abu Dhabi, Al Ain has retained a strong traditional Emirati character. The pace is slower, the streets are greener, and the range of genuine heritage sites is more concentrated than anywhere else in the country. It is worth a full day for first-time visitors.
