The Route — Dubai to Fujairah
E311 (Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road) → Fujairah Road The main route from Dubai to Fujairah crosses the entire UAE from west coast to east coast through the Hajar Mountains. The E311 runs north-east out of Dubai and connects to the Fujairah Road, which climbs through the mountain passes before descending to the coastal plain and Fujairah city.
This is one of the most scenic drives in the UAE. The contrast between the flat desert and the dramatic rocky peaks of the Hajar Mountains is significant — the landscape changes completely around 45 minutes into the journey and stays mountainous for the better part of an hour before opening onto Fujairah's green coastal lowlands.
For Al Aqah and Dibba: The route continues north up the east coast after Fujairah city, following the coastal road through Khor Fakkan.
Traffic note: The Fujairah route has no significant commuter traffic compared to Dubai–Abu Dhabi or Dubai–Sharjah. The E311 runs smoothly outside of peak weekend hours. Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings see the heaviest traffic in both directions as Dubai residents travel to and from east coast resorts.
